Owing to the severity of their brain damage, most of the 300 children and adults at LITTLE EDEN have to wear nappies day and night.

That's why we get through 2 500 nappies every day at LITTLE EDEN!

We use towelling nappies, rather than disposables, because it's cheaper ... and much kinder to the environment.

But towelling nappies have to be washed. And washing so many every day takes huge amounts of detergent, bleach and fabric softener – all of which have to be paid for.

Every week in our industrial laundry we get through 24 litres of special industrial detergent, at a cost of R983. Add to this, 12 litres of high quality bleach at R443, and another R156 for special fabric softener to prevent chaffing and rashes.

Any amount you can spare towards these costs would mean so much. Because – although your contribution will buy necessities for the laundry – what you're really buying is comfort and care for children and adults with profound intellectual disability.

Every act of kindness – whether it's a cheery 'hello', a comforting hug, a toy to play with, a gentle wash, or fresh clothes, nappies and bed linen - adds up to a feeling of being loved and cared for. And that’s the most important thing we can give these special children and adults.
