Elize was one of the first children admitted to LITTLE EDEN when we opened our doors in 1967. She spent many happy days as part of a small group of little ones under the care of the young Domitilla Hyams.
After much soul searching, Elize’s mother subsequently decided that she wanted to keep her daughter at home and care for her herself. This she did until she passed away last year.
Elize was then readmitted to LITTLE EDEN last year at the age of 63 and has settled in happily in Boitumelo wing at DDHH. We wonder if there is some small part of her that remembers us, and responds again to the love and care she knew here as a child.
And it reminds us, yet again, how fortunate our organisation has been to have been able to serve children and adults with profound intellectual disability for more than 53 years.
