If you’ve ever attended a concert at Elvira Rota Village, you’ll remember Leslie. He always plays the big drum . . . with his feet. His severe physical disabilities keep him wheelchair bound and also affect his speech. So despite being able to understand much of what goes on around him, Leslie finds it very difficult to communicate.
But help is at hand in the form of Candy, another resident. She’s perfectly attuned to Leslie’s voice and will explain what he’s saying to those who can’t understand him.
This is just one instance of residents helping one another, but there are many, many others – and it is heartwarming to see the bonds that form. It’s like having a brother or sister who accepts you exactly as you are, and seeks out your company so you can share the special moments of life together.
Not all our friends and supporters are able to visit on a regular basis, if at all. But no matter how far away you may be, always remember that you too are part of the LITTLE EDEN family.
By helping to provide a home where children and adults with profound intellectual disability feel loved and valued, you’ve played your part in keeping our family together – and ensured that you’ll always be welcomed with open arms should you ever decide to visit. Until then, thank you for being part of our family.
