In celebration of Arbor Week, which runs from 1 – 7 September in South Africa, we planted 1 500 indigenous trees at our Elvira Village in Bapsfontein. In years to come, the new trees will provide welcome shade and homes for birds and insects.
Residents and staff got involved, enjoying the warmer weather as they helped to dig up the ground and set the saplings in place. Consisting of Riverbush Willows, Black Karee, White Karee and Olive trees, the forest is an extension of the existing sensory garden, where residents enjoy the sight, smell and touch of plants and the outdoors.
