Daniel is a grade 8 student at St. Benedict’s in Bedfordview. He chose to do his school community service at LITTLE EDEN because his family has always supported our organisation.
Needless to say, the experience was an eye opener for this caring young man. He was especially moved by the need for many of our residents to receive food supplements to achieve optimum healthy nutrition. When he found out these supplements cost us R4000 a month, he came up with the idea of raising this amount through a raffle.
Prize hamper
His dad sells products through markets around Gauteng. Daniel approached all the other vendors to ask if they’d be willing to donate products for a hamper as the prize. The response was amazing. Daniel and his father were completely blown away by the generosity of the market community, who donated about R19 000 worth of products – enough for 3 amazing prizes. With such great prizes to offer, Daniel decided to increase his target to R50 000.
Daniel spends time on the weekends selling tickets and has so far raised over R10 000. He still has a long way to go to meet his target. And, with the deadline of the end of October looming, he is starting to get despondent. Even though he knows that every rand he raises will make a difference, he really wants to hit his target and have a massive impact. Is there any way you can help Daniel by buying one or more tickets in his raffle?
How to buy tickets
The tickets cost R100 each and the prizes are really worth winning. All you have to do is WhatsApp Daniel’s Dad, John Tselchous on 082 416 1111 to organise your purchase.
Not only will your generosity help provide the best possible care for our special ‘angels’, you’ll also encourage this caring young man to believe that if you set a worthy goal and put the work in, miracles can happen.
Perhaps, his story will even inspire others to think of creative ways to launch their own fundraising drives to help us care for the 300 children and adults with profound intellectual disability who call LITTLE EDEN home.
