LITTLE EDEN 50 years of Love & Care (1967 to 2017) by Luigi Slaviero is an interesting and lively read. It not only describes the past 50 years of LITTLE EDEN’s existence, but also relays the emotions, motives and prayers involved in founding, growing and maintaining the Homes.
This is a story of two women, Domitilla Hyams who together with her husband, Danny, founded LITTLE EDEN, and their daughter Lucy Slaviero who has been running LITTLE EDEN for over 19 years. The author, who is also Lucy’s husband, took special care to tell the story from the pen of both women by including extracts from Domitilla’s diaries and from several speeches made by Lucy through the years.
Especially valuable for anyone who is interested in serving the community and its vulnerable people, the book provides a fresh understanding on persons with intellectual disability. Priced at R180, the book will be released at the Thanksgiving Mass at Elvira Rota Village on 29 January and available thereafter at our head office, 79 Wagenaar Road, Edenglen.
