Construction of the new 26 bed wing at Elvira Rota Village is on track, with completion scheduled for April/May.
The modern, new building includes thermal insulation to keep residents cosy during the cold Bapsfontein winters, soft vinyl flooring in the spacious dayroom, and high efficiency LED lighting.
Showerßaths – LITTLE EDEN’s own innovative invention, will be installed in both male and female bathrooms, ensuring safe and hygienic bathtime for people with limited mobility or disabilities.
The new section will be named Mary’s Mill, in acknowledgement of the integral role played by Our Lady in guiding the work of our founders, Domitilla and Danny Hyams, and also in honour of their first-born daughter, Mary Hyams, who has and continues to dedicate her life to the care of our special angels.
We chose to liken the new section to a mill, because in days past, the mill was a vital part of any community, literally grinding their daily bread. Working in a mill also requires hard labour and commitment, just as our work does!
Building upgrades at Domitilla and Danny Hyams Home, where it is not possible to isolate residents from contractors, have been put on hold for now owing to the risk of Covid-19.
