A visit to Durban was the best treat ever for these lucky residents.
It’s almost impossible to describe the sea to anyone who’s never seen it – and even more so when you’re trying to explain it to children and adults with profound intellectual disability.
So you can imagine the wonder and excitement we saw on the faces of a group of residents recently, when they arrived at the beach . . . felt the sand between their toes for the first time ever . . . and dipped their feet into the waves!
Then – to add to the excitement – there was a visit to uShaka Marine World, where residents stared in wonder at brightly coloured fish and other sea creatures in the aquarium, and enjoyed ringside seats for the spectacular dolphin, penguin and seal show.
It was the most magical experience for these lucky residents, and we sincerely thank uShaka Marine World and their wonderful staff, as well as uMzumbe South Coast Capuchin Convent for providing accommodation for our angels and their carers. You gave so much joy!
