LITTLE EDEN supporters braved the chilly evening to learn about the stars at a Stargazing event on Friday 2 June 2017 at Elvira Rota Village, Bapsfontein.
This evening of stargazing, boerewors rolls, popcorn, sweets and hot chocolate was one of many events planned to celebrate the Society’s 50th anniversary.
Attended by about 100 people, the event started with a brief presentation by LITTLE EDEN Site Manager, Paolo Slaviero, who shared information about the history of the Society and the special people in our care, and encouraged the audience to continue supporting LITTLE EDEN.
Special guests, including two astronomers, Trevor Gould and Eric Brindeau, shared their knowledge of the stars with the crowd of Girl Guides, their parents, astronomy enthusiasts and friends of LITTLE EDEN. Everyone had the opportunity to see the stars through the astronomers’ telescopes and learn more about the constellations around us.
Some of the visitors also took the opportunity to enjoy the warmth from the bonfire, chatting to friends and toasting marshmallows for dessert.
