We would like to thanks all the donors and community members who supported our Mandela Day event on 18 July 2024. The generous contributions and participation from everyone involved made the day an outstanding success, bringing immense joy and enrichment to our residents.
CEO, Xelda Rohrbeck, explained that on the special day where the legacy of former South African President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela is celebrated throughout the world, donors engaged in various stimulation activities with residents, fostering a vibrant and joyful atmosphere. These activities included play, music, arts and crafts, and massages, providing the residents with much-needed sensory experiences and meaningful interactions.
In addition, volunteers participated in several maintenance projects around our facilities, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for all at LITTLE EDEN. Some also assisted at the Charity Shop depot, helping to sort through donations and organise items for sale – which is crucial to our fundraising efforts.
We extend a special thank you to Stencil Magic, A.SHAK, and Quarto Press for donating the paint and equipment for our painting corner. Volunteers had a wonderful time painting LITTLE EDEN marketing bags, a creative activity that not only supports the cause but also helps spread awareness about the special work being carried out every day at the Society.
Delight and joy was not limited to the Edenvale Home; Elvira Rota Village in Bapsfontein also shared the Madiba Magic. Residents and visitors alike experienced a day filled with compassion, connection, and community spirit.
“Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us continue to provide lifelong care to 300 children and adults living with Profound Intellectual Disability,” said Rohrbeck. “Together, we can make a difference.”
