Murray Carter – National Sales Director for BSH Home Appliances – spent Thursday 10 March in a wheelchair, as a participant in LITTLE EDEN’s 5th Annual CEO Wheelchair Campaign®. This is what he had to say:
“Firstly, thank you to LITTLE EDEN and all their staff for the amazing work you do every day. The world is a better place because of you.
“Secondly, thank you for the opportunity to be part of your fund raising initiative. It was a privilege to take part and a steep learning curve for me. I was relieved to find that our offices were relatively well designed for a person in a wheelchair. However there is still work to be done.
“My biggest learning was the smallest things, that we take for granted everyday, become a major challenge. Simple things like making coffee, moving around the office and a bathroom break presented serious challenges.
“Besides the obvious lack of mobility, the other thing I noticed is the level of fitness needed to operate a wheelchair. I’m fairly fit, but often found myself sweating and out of breath. I could use my core and my legs for stability, and I still had a tough time. My respect to all the endurance athletes in wheelchairs!
“Thank you to LITTLE EDEN for the opportunity to have one day in solidarity with your staff and most importantly your residents. You are superheroes, every one of you.”
We are so grateful there are people like Murray who support us. You are the heroes in our eyes.
